5 Common Funding & Withdrawal Mistakes to Avoid
Most funding and withdrawal problems on any on-chain terminal aren't bugs — they're the same handful of avoidable mistakes. Here's what to check before you fund your wallet and before you try to withdraw.
Mistake 1: Funding your wallet but forgetting gas
Sending exactly the amount you plan to trade — with nothing left over for network fees — is the single most common issue new users hit. Every on-chain transaction needs a small amount of the native token (SOL, ETH, BNB, etc.) set aside purely for gas, separate from your trading capital. If your wallet balance matches your intended position size exactly, your trade or withdrawal can fail simply because there's nothing left to pay the network.
Keep a small gas buffer in each chain's native token beyond what you intend to trade — enough for several transactions, not just one. On Solana this buffer can be small; on Ethereum, leave more room given higher and more variable gas costs.
Mistake 2: Withdrawing below the minimum
Some withdrawal flows enforce a small minimum amount — attempting to withdraw dust-level balances below that threshold will simply fail rather than partially process. If a withdrawal won't go through, check whether the amount clears the minimum before assuming something else is wrong.
Mistake 3: Wrong network selected
Because Padre Terminal supports four different chains, it's possible to be looking at the wrong network tab and conclude a balance is "missing" when it's simply sitting on a different chain than the one currently displayed. Double-check the active network selector before troubleshooting further.
Mistake 4: Assuming a stuck transaction is a terminal issue
A transaction that stays pending for an unusually long time is almost always a network congestion or gas-pricing issue at the blockchain level, not something the terminal itself controls. Checking the relevant network's status (Solana, Ethereum, Base, or BNB Chain) is a faster way to diagnose this than assuming the terminal has a bug.
Mistake 5: Confusing wallet funding with terminal balance
Padre Terminal doesn't hold custody of funds — there's no separate "terminal balance" to top up. Your trading capital simply lives in your connected wallet at all times. If you're looking for a deposit address inside the terminal itself, that's not how the self-custodial model works; you fund and withdraw directly through your wallet.
Before you contact support
- Confirm you're on the correct network tab for the asset in question.
- Confirm your wallet has enough native token for gas, separate from your trade amount.
- Check the withdrawal amount against any published minimum.
- Check the underlying network's status page for congestion.
Working through these four checks resolves the large majority of funding and withdrawal issues without needing to escalate further.
