New Pairs vs Trending: Reading Padre Terminal's Discovery Tools

New Pairs and Trending are the two discovery panels most traders open first on Padre Terminal, but they answer different questions. Mixing them up leads to either missing early opportunities or chasing tokens that have already moved.

What "New Pairs" actually shows

New Pairs lists liquidity pools as they're created, ordered by recency. This is a firehose — most of what appears here is unproven, thinly traded, or simply not going anywhere. The panel is useful for two things:

• Spotting a token before broader attention arrives.
• Monitoring a specific pair you already know about for its first minutes of trading.

It is not a vetted or curated list — nothing about appearing in New Pairs implies quality, safety, or genuine demand.

What "Trending" actually shows

Trending ranks tokens by a combination of recent volume, transaction count, and price movement over a rolling window. By the time something appears here, it has already attracted real trading activity — which cuts both ways: it's a more validated signal than New Pairs, but you're seeing it later, often after the sharpest part of a move.

Using them together

1. Scan New Pairs for anything matching sectors or narratives you're already tracking.
2. Cross-check candidates against liquidity depth and holder distribution before sizing a position — see our safety checklist for the specific checks worth running.
3. Watch Trending separately for tokens that are confirming momentum, as a different kind of setup than early discovery.

Filtering the noise

Both panels support filters for minimum liquidity, pool age, and volume — narrowing these down before scrolling saves considerable time versus scanning the full unfiltered feed, especially on New Pairs where volume is highest.
